Crayfish Mac & Cheese

Hey there cheese lovers! A classic macaroni and cheese is probably the best way to satisfy your cheese cravings, but might get boring every once in a while. We found the perfect way to spice it up by adding crayfish. That shit cray! This mac and cheese is perfectly creamy and comforting as it should be, but the crayfish adds a whole new dimension in flavor and texture. To top it all off, we crumbled on some breadcrumbs, parmesan & parsley and slid it into the oven for the perfect crunchy layer.

Mac & Cheese for four
○ 400g freshly grated Gouda ○ 250g pre-cooked and peeled crayfish ○ 300g macaroni ○ 50g butter ○ 100ml milk ○ 1 onion ○ 1 minced garlic clove ○ 20g fresh parsley ○ 5 tablespoons breadcrumbs ○ 4 tablespoons of grated parmesan ○ 1 tablespoon paprika powder ○ 1 teaspoon cayenne ○ pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees celsius. Boil the macaroni according to the instructions. Grease an oven dish with butter. Finely chop the onion, garlic and parsley. Fry the garlic and onion until the onions turn translucent. Drain the pasta and quickly add the cheese, butter and milk to the pan. Stir quickly to ensure that the cheese melts and coats all the macaroni. Stir in half the parsley, and the paprika powder, cayenne and pepper. Transfer the mac and cheese to an oven dish. In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the parmesan and the rest of the parsley. Sprinkle this breadcrumb mixture on top of the macaroni. Place the dish into the oven for approximately 10 minutes or until the top turns golden brown and nice and crispy. Now get ready for something cray!
